Hire Remote Customer Support Reps from Latin America
A full-time support representative from Latin America costs about $21,600 to $27,000 a year, against roughly $47,500 to $62,000 in the United States. More importantly, they are awake when your customers write in, which is the whole point of a support team.
Support is the role where accent, tone and Spanish coverage genuinely change the outcome, so this page covers what to test for before you hire, not just what it costs.
What a nearshore support team covers
- Email and ticket queues in Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk or Help Scout, including the first-response time you are being measured on.
- Live chat during your business hours, which is where the time zone overlap pays for itself.
- Phone and video support for customers who want a person, in English or Spanish.
- Order, booking and account changes, refunds and the small exceptions that need judgment.
- Tier one technical troubleshooting, with a clean escalation path into engineering for the rest.

What we actually place this role at: $1,500 to $2,000 a month, full time.
The table below is our salary benchmark for the role, used across the salary guide and the calculators. Full-time yearly cost. Bilingual English and Spanish coverage does not carry a premium in this market, because it is the norm rather than the exception.

What separates a good support hire
Listen to a live call, always
Support is spoken work. Written screening tells you almost nothing about how someone sounds to an angry customer at 4pm. Run at least one voice interview before an offer.
Bilingual is a real asset, not a checkbox
If any part of your customer base speaks Spanish, a native Spanish speaker with strong English covers both queues with one hire. Say so in the brief, because it changes which countries we search.
Ask how they handle being wrong
The hardest support moment is telling a customer the company made a mistake. Ask for a specific example. Vague answers here usually mean the person deflects instead of resolving.
Plan the coverage before the headcount
Write down the hours you need covered and the volume per hour. Two people on staggered shifts often beats three people who all start at nine.
How hiring a customer support works here
- 1
One 15-minute call
You describe the role, the hours you need covered and the tools. We tell you honestly whether nearshore fits it.
- 2
Vetted shortlist in 2-4 weeks
Skills, spoken English and background checked before anyone reaches you. You run the interviews.
- 3
One agreement, and they start
You sign a Master Services Agreement with us. We engage and pay the professional; they work as part of your team, month to month.
Plan for about a two-week ramp once they start, and own that part: training, context, clear expectations and access to your systems. We stay involved after the placement, so if something goes wrong on either side we mediate rather than leaving you to it.

Questions we get about this role
- How much does a remote customer support rep from Latin America cost?
- About $21,600 a year full time for a support representative and around $30,000 for a support manager. In the United States the same roles average roughly $47,500 and $68,000.
- Are Latin American support reps bilingual?
- Most are native Spanish speakers, and everyone we place is screened for spoken and written English. If you need both queues covered by one person, say so up front and we will screen for it specifically.
- Can they cover evenings or weekends?
- Yes, within reason. Because the region shares your time zone, evening coverage for a United States company is still an evening shift locally, which is far easier to staff and retain than an overnight shift in Asia.
- What tools can they work in?
- The usual help desk stack: Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Gorgias, plus whatever customer relationship manager sits behind it. Name your tools in the brief and we screen for hands-on experience.
